Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Review

Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is one of the world's pre-eminent galleries of modern art, one of the world most beautiful places for travel blogger and travel photography person. It has a stunning collection of spanning the history of Modernism. It seems that every piece is a masterwork, from Impressionism to contemporary art. MoMA held ground-breaking exhibitions that shaped contemporary perceptions of major artists such as van Gogh and Picasso. The Rockefeller family has been connected to MoMA since its founding in 1929. MoMA museum is in Midtown Manhattan, these days Modernism is the dominant popular leitmotiv, MoMA is almost too popular for its own good. A visit to MoMA is a highlight of a trip to New York City.

This is hands-down one of my favorite arts museums, in the city or elsewhere. It's not for everyone, as it tends towards (as the name says) modern art, so if you don't like modern art, then go to the Met instead. This museum has an exhaustive number of permanent exhibits and some famous paintings, such as Dalí's The Persistence of Memory, as well as fantastic temporary exhibits (a few years ago they had an exhibit dedicated to Tim Burton, and they also had a life artwork performance by Marina Abramovich). Some of the art is more interpretive, which I think is wonderful and makes the art consumer engage with the art in a more thoughtful manner. For me, this is best places to travel, also cheapest places to travel.

Modernism began in the late 19th century. Although "modern" is now a term of approbation, "modernism" was once scandalous. Probably the collection is strongest in Impressionism and Post Impressionism, where almost every painting is a masterpiece.

I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. It has a logical flow that makes it easy to explore. The galleries are varied to maintain interest. Their COVID protocols were excellent. I didn't research any of the galleries in advance so I was pleasantly surprised by some of the art exhibited. Air temperature was comfortable and it was easy o socially distance. I enjoyed this museum more than The Met, personally. It is also conveniently located to most of the "tourist" to dos.

I went during members’ hour and were delighted with how uncrowned the museum was. I spent most of our time on the 5th floor looking at works from the permanent collection. A great experience and it’s clear that I the museum patrons benefit from being able to see more art, now that there is more gallery space. There are even new large restrooms. I would note, however, that they are very dark (dark gray walls, etc.) and I found the stalls claustrophobic (European style floor to ceiling). As the only person in there, it was a bit eerie. The expanded museum shop is very nice and I had a short conversation with a pleasant young saleswoman.

This is definitely one of the best art museums in NY and arguable one of the best in the world, especially with its new addition. What an amazing space, it's truly huge. Much like the great museums in Paris, Washington D. C. and other great cities, one must carefully plan how to spend time here. It's best either to plot out a section or exhibit or two for thorough visit, or to take a couple of days to explore more of the museum. I have always loved going to the Museum of Modern Art formally reasons including the completely different art on view and also for its exceptionally excellent presentations of cinema; often overlooked by visitors.

If you’re interested in art, or at least not indifferent, you got to visit this. I think every artist who has meant something in modern art can be found here. Many works you only know from magazines or pictures can be found here. It could be done in a day, on fast forward, but DON’T! If you have limited time at least visit their site, locate what’s absolutely must see for you and stick to that plan. Otherwise, an interesting auto design exposition in place when I visited. Glad and proud to see several sculptures of Brancusi, on fifth floor. Sad I didn’t have enough time to better explore all the works, I only manage to see 5th and 4th floors. You can also visit store MoMA or MoMA designstore to buy modern design stuff.
